Restoration of The Mas

Mas de Puech & its Vines were purchased in November 2000 and after 16 months of meetings and discussions with the planning authorities, work on renovating the Mas commenced in March 2002. During 2002 & 2003 the civil engineering work concentrated on stabilising the building to prevent its collapse (there is a lot of steel & concrete hidden from view), replacing the roofs and constructing new interior walls using original materials whenever possible.

During 2004 the plasterers, the carpenters, the plumbers and the electricians arrived, work continued throughout the year and into the early part of 2005. It was decided during 2004 that a swimming pool would be essential during the long hot French summer, so work commenced in March 2005 with a completion date of July 2005 in time for the busy summer season.

Once the main work was completed, various small projects have continued such as security fencing for the pool, extra terrace space by the pool, construction of the barbeque and various exterior walls to improve privacy for our guests.

A 'state of the art' automated control system was installed during Spring 2006 to accurately control the water quality in the swimming pool 24 hours a day.

The Mas and its surroundings are now maturing nicely, with the olives, fruit trees, figs and desert eating grapes we planted starting to bear fruit, however, we are always exploring ways to improve the Mas and enhance its special ambiance.
